Florida’s unofficial LGBT+ capital has a rainbow-inspired police car.
Known for being one of the gay-friendliest cities in the country, Wilton Manors has gone further to be more inclusive towards the LGBT+ community with a brand-new, LGBT+ themed police car.
The Wilton Manors Police Department has redesigned one of the cars with a giant rainbow – the symbol of the LGBT+ community – on both sides with the rear window reading: “Policing with Pride”.
“This is our way of supporting our Wilton Manors community that is welcoming to all.” says Gary Blocker, the city’s assistant police chief
“Each and every day, our agency policies with pride and passion and this car reinforces to our stakeholders that we are stronger together.”
This car will remain in the city throughout the year.
Although it isn’t the first South Florida patrol car to support the LGBT+ community. The first one was back in 2013, when Miami Beach introduced a squad car with “Police” written in rainbow colors. Since then it’s used on community events like the Pride Festival.
